05 Mar Contact your legislator to support Senate Bill 186 (SB 186)
The Senate Judiciary Committee did not vote on SB186 March 1, 2017 but a vote is expected next week and could occur as early as Tuesday, March 7th. Please contact the Senate Judiciary Committee members, and ask them to vote “YES” on SB 186.
Below is a sample letter.
Dear Senator ___________,
I deeply appreciate your commitment to doing what’s right in Montgomery; by putting children and families first, please vote “YES” on Senate Bill (SB186). Families are the cornerstone of an orderly society, but over the last several decades, Alabama families have grown progressively weaker. The existing child custody law practices needs updating. The current child custody law practices are placing thousands of children at risk and denying them of the love of both “fit” parents.
I’m writing to ask if you will support updating the Code of Alabama to include equal guidelines and statutory definitions for Courts to follow. See attached fact sheet. Your support of SB186 will help safeguard Alabama’s Children’s rights to a relationship with each fit parent. Please vote “YES” to SB 186.
I appreciate your time and look forward to your reply.
I can be contacted at email address ____________________________ or phone number ______________________.
