23 Jul FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Child Support Guidelines and Enforcement scheduled to meet
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
July 23, 2018
Huntsville, AL – The Alabama Advisory Committee on Child Support Guidelines and Enforcement is scheduled to meet, beginning on Friday August 17, 2018, at 10:00 am at the Heflin-Torbert Judicial Building (Mezzanine Classroom), located at 300 Dexter Avenue in Montgomery, Alabama. Administrative Office of Courts press release.
The purpose of the meeting is to review and make recommendations to the Supreme Court concerning the Child-Support Guidelines in Rule 32, Alabama Rules of Judicial Administration as mandated by Federal Law. At this meeting, the Committee will continue reviewing and discussing the current proposed updates to the Guidelines and Schedule.
It’s open to the public, so citizens may share their experiences directly with decision makers, as related to child support guidelines and enforcement. If you plan to speak and for the best outcomes: 1) briefly write down 1-2 of your concerns 2) provide 1-2 solutions for each concern 3) focus on the benefits to children and families 4) ensure your concerns are related to child support guidelines and enforcement, and 5) be courteous during your presentation. No intent to speak, come out anyway! Your presence alone could make the difference.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, we strongly encourage you to submit a letter to the Advisory Committee. Approximately 40,000 children are annually subjected to being enrolled in the Alabama child support system to generate more Title IV-D money for the state of Alabama. Your stories need to be heard. We encourage you to send the letter to Mr. Bob Maddox (Legal Division AOC, 300 Dexter Ave, Montgomery, AL 36104), as well as Chief Justice Lyn Stuart (300 Dexter Ave, Montgomery, AL 36104), your district’s senator and representative. You can find the addresses for your legislative representatives online. Make sure to “CC” the other people you are sending the letter to on each copy.
