Huntsville, AL – The Alabama Advisory Committee on Child Support Guidelines and Enforcement is scheduled to meet, beginning on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 10:00 am via web-video conferencing. Administrative Office of Courts press release.
The purpose of the meeting is to review and make recommendations to the Supreme Court concerning the Child-Support Guidelines in Rule 32, Alabama Rules of Judicial Administration as mandated by Federal Law. At this meeting, the Committee will continue reviewing and discussing the current Guidelines and Schedule, which are used by courts in this State in determining the amounts of child support to be paid.
It’s open to the public, so citizens may share their experiences directly with decision makers, as related to child support guidelines and enforcement.
Persons wishing to join the web meeting should submit an e-mail no later than 5:00 P.M. Central Time on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, to email@example.com for instructions. The Committee will allow public comments toward the end of the meeting. Materials for this meeting may be found by accessing the following site: http://www.alacourt.gov/ChildSupportReview.aspx.
- If you plan to join the web meeting to speak and for the best outcomes: 1) briefly write down 1-2 of your concerns 2) provide 1-2 solutions for each concern 3) focus on the benefits to children and families 4) ensure your concerns are related to child support guidelines and enforcement, and 5) be courteous during your presentation. No intent to speak, join the web meeting anyway! Your presence alone could make the difference.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, we strongly encourage you to submit a letter to the Advisory Committee. Approximately 40,000 children are annually subjected to being enrolled in the Alabama child support system to generate more Title IV-D money for the state of Alabama. Your stories need to be heard. We encourage you to send the letter through the United States Mail, postmarked no later than Friday, October 30, 2020, to the Supreme Court of Alabama Clerk’s Office, Attention: Advisory Committee on Child Support Guidelines, 300 Dexter Avenue, Montgomery, AL 36104-3741; as well as your district’s senator and representative.
